Yes the cartridges are interchangeable.
Cake cartridges will work on non-cake Cricut Machines, and regular cartridges will work with the Cricut Cake machine.

Yes, I believe you can also use the cake machine to cut cupcake wrappers, you would need to get the green mats (they are sticky), and the deep cut blade and housing.
Yes the lite cartridges should work on any cricut machine.
