What is the Cricut Create? The Cricut Create basically is a machine that is smaller like the original Cricut, yet has many of the features of the larger Cricut Expression machine.
All Cricut cartridges work with the Cricut Create machine.
When you purchase the Create it comes with the following:
- Don Juan font and shape cartridge
- 6" x 12" cutting mat
- necessary cords and manuals

I love my Create! I got mine with a bundle of three carts: Don Juan, Graphically Speaking and Storybook. I was debating on getting an Expression, but couldn’t justify the difference in price just to make larger cuts when I mostly use smaller cuts for layouts and cards. Deb M
I can not get my Cricut Create to just cut with the other cartridges..Can someone clu me in..
Thank you
My Cricut Create will not cut with my cartridges when I am on Cricut Class Room. What am I doing wrong. It will ready my machine but will not read the cartridges. It does work with class room basics.
I had the same problem. I’ve found that it all depends on the versions of each firmware you’re using.
1) Use the most recent version of the Cricut Craft Room.
2) Use version v.54 for the Cricut Create.
When I do this CCR works like a charm. However, keep in mind that if it ever asks if you want to update your Create firmware, say “skip”.
Now, my next problem which I am working on is trying to get the latest version of my Gypsy to work on .v54 of my Create. When ready to cut on my Gypsy, it says I must update my Create firmware. Does not give me any other options for cutting. When I update my Create to the latest version (v.61), the cut function starts and then I get a message that the connection has been lost and I never can get it to go past that point. .v61 won’t work at all with CCR.
The reason I want to get my Gypsy to cut is because I have digital cartridges, Gypsy Wanderings and Gypsy Font, which I would like to use. An e-mail from Provo Craft on 3/1/12 stated that they will be coming out “soon” with a method to move Gypsy cartridge to CCR.
For my purposes, I would prefer to work in CCR, so I backed out my firmware update for the Create back to v.54 using the Design Studio (so I can use CCR) and I will wait for Provo Craft to come out with the ability to move my Gypsy cartridges to CCR. “Soon”, so they say.
If anyone has any other suggestions or solutions to the problem, I’d love to hear them.
